Agenda Approval

BD 082511-01  On a motion by John Young, it was VOTED that the agenda of August 25, 2011 be approved as presented with the addition of c, d, and e under Item 18 and the  elimination of item 4. b. 

Minutes Approved

BD 082511-02  On a motion by Louie Osmonovich, it was VOTED that the Executive Board Minutes of June 6, 2011 and June 8, 2011 be approved as written.

Outreach Mission Statement

POLICY AND PROCEDURE CHANGE

BD 0082511-03  On a motion by Rita Figlenski, it was VOTED* to change POLICIES AND PROCEDURES  ARTICLE VI, COMMITTEES, OUTREACH COMMITTEE, Item D by striking  “D. The OUTREACH COMMITTEE  shall:

§ Support retention of members, active and retired

§ Promote communication through: o Coordinating councils

o “Outreach Corner” in the Journal

o Media

o Websites

§ Maintain a task force of one member from each coordinating council to work with the Journal editor

§ Seek ways to increase visibility of WSSRA throughout the state.

and insert “The mission of the WSSRA Outreach Committee is to promote visibility and recognition of the state organization, local units, and individual members.  To accomplish this mission statement for the 2011-2012 year, the committee shall:

o Maintain “Outreach Corner” in every  issue 

o Maintain two-way communication with coordinating councils

o Encourage units to participate in activities (e.g., volunteering, mini grants, awards, scholarships, NRTA, et cetera)

o Promote communication through various forms of media

o Ensure appointment of a member from each coordinating council to act as a communications liaison with the  editor.

*This was by unanimous vote of the current Outreach Committee held August 23, 2011.

Appointment of Rules and Resolutions Committee Member

BD 082511-04  On a motion by Louie Osmonovich, it was VOTED THAT THE WSSRA Executive Board approve the appointment of Dan Birdsell, Spokane Unit 25, to the East Region position on the 2011-2012 Rules and Resolutions Committee.  

Appointment of Alternate Liaison to Senior Lobby

BD 082511-05  On a motion by Louie Osmonovich, it was VOTED that the WSSRA Executive Board approve the appointment of Pat McLaughlin as the WSSRA Alternate Liaison to the Senior Citizen’s Lobby.

Consideration of Foundation Motion Postponed

BD 082511-06  On a motion by Rita Figlenski it was VOTED that the concern regarding Foundation personnel not being present during voting be postponed for consideration until the November, 2011 Executive Board meeting.
